The Al-Marj Security Directorate in eastern Libya announced today, Tuesday, that an earthquake was felt by the residents of the city. The directorate stated in a statement on "Facebook" that no injuries or damages were reported from the quake, which occurred at 9:33 AM and lasted for 3 seconds. Libyan social media pages shared news about the quake, criticizing the absence of a network to monitor earthquakes capable of determining the strength, location, and timing of the tremor. It is worth noting that the city previously experienced a severe earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale in 1963, considered one of the largest natural disasters in Libya, resulting in 243 fatalities.
