The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned "an attack by extremist settlers today, Tuesday, on a Jordanian aid convoy headed to Gaza via the Beit Hanoun/Erez crossing," according to the Jordanian news agency "Petra." The official spokesperson for the ministry, Ambassador Dr. Sufian Qudah, held "Israel responsible for the assault on aid convoys, emphasizing that the Israeli government's failure to fulfill its responsibilities as the occupying power and allowing these assaults constitutes a breach of its legal obligations." He reiterated his call "for the international community to assume its responsibilities and take a clear international stand condemning Israel's ongoing violations of international law and international humanitarian law, compelling Israel to adhere to them, ensure aid convoys can cross, and guarantee their entry into the Gaza Strip, while halting settler attacks against them."
He stated, "The aid convoy organized by the Hashemite Jordanian Charity Organization was attacked today by extremist settlers while on its way to the Beit Hanoun/Erez crossing, with its cargo being tampered with; however, it continued its mission out of Jordan's commitment to delivering humanitarian aid to our Palestinian brothers in Gaza and reached its destination."
The ministry also condemned "Israel's occupation of the Palestinian side of the Rafah crossing and its closure to humanitarian aid for the residents of the Gaza Strip, who are suffering from an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe." Qudah noted, "The Israeli occupation forces' control over the Rafah crossing, preventing humanitarian aid from entering Gaza, and expanding their aggressive military operations in the city of Rafah, is a blatant violation of international law and international humanitarian law, a flagrant infringement of all human values, and an attempt to thwart efforts to reach an immediate ceasefire, which the entire international community must confront and stop."
