Aston Villa, competing in the English Premier League, announced on Tuesday that it has agreed to extend its contract with coach Unai Emery, keeping him at the club until 2027. The Spanish coach joined Aston Villa in October 2022 and helped the team finish seventh in the Premier League, their best season since 2009-2010. Emery had previously ended the season in fourteenth place. Villa aims to finish in the top four of the league for the first time since the 1995-1996 season. The team has also reached the semi-finals of the Europa Conference League, their first major European semi-final in 42 years. Villa, who will host Chelsea next Saturday, is currently fourth in the league with 66 points from 34 matches, six points ahead of fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur, who have two games in hand.
