Lebanese Army Arrests 8 Lebanese Suspected of Links to ISIS

The Lebanese Army Command - Direction of Guidance announced that "following a series of acts threatening security and public peace in the areas of Jabal al-Baddawi and Wadi al-Nahla - North, notably the shooting at a military vehicle belonging to one of the officers of the Internal Security Forces, the Intelligence Directorate of the Army began operations to investigate and monitor security."

A statement from the directorate mentioned that "in implementation of the orders of the Public Prosecutor of Cassation, the directorate arrested 8 citizens. Investigations revealed that they are supporters of the ISIS terrorist organization, and they admitted to committing thefts to fund their terrorist plans, in addition to shooting at commercial establishments and targeting the aforementioned military vehicle, as well as filming one of the Lebanese Army's posts with the intent of attacking it."

The statement added that "the directorate seized weapons and equipment used by the group in their activities. The seized items were handed over, and an investigation with the detainees has begun under the supervision of the competent judiciary."
