The National Center for Meteorology in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has issued a red alert for the Makkah region, warning of thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds. The National Center for Meteorology stated in its weather report on social media platform X that the alert begins today, Saturday, and is expected to last until next Tuesday.
The center issued a notification about the likelihood of thunderstorms with active surface winds affecting the Makkah region, including the governorates of Taif, Adham, Al-Araidat, Maysan, and Al-Kamil.
Earlier this month, a severe storm hit Makkah, causing panic among pilgrims and worshippers, as the storm caused significant devastation in the city. While worshippers and pilgrims were attempting to perform Tawaf around the Kaaba, lightning struck the famous Makkah Tower in a dramatic scene. A video showed pilgrims and worshippers being pushed away by the winds, resulting in extensive damage.
