The Military Shrine in Samarra reported today, Friday, that a group of members from "Saraya al-Salam," the military wing of the Sadrist movement, forcefully entered the shrine without weapons to place 20 photos commemorating the assassination of their reference, Ayatollah Muhammad Muhammad Sadiq al-Sadr.
In a statement, the shrine noted that "a group from Saraya rushed to introduce about 20 images and banners marking the martyrdom of al-Sadr. When the shrine staff prevented them from doing so, a group from Saraya forcefully entered without weapons, in a manner that shows no respect for the shrine and those serving its visitors."
The statement added that "the members of Saraya did not stop at this act but detained shrine vehicles and prevented the staff from carrying out their duties, harassing us despite all the kindness we have shown them over the years."
The statement called on the Grand Shiite Authority in Najaf to "intervene and put an end to these illogical and unjustifiable behaviors." According to information circulated last night, the management of the military shrine in Samarra rejected the placement of images of Sadrist leader Muqtada al-Sadr inside, prompting armed members of Saraya to invade the military courtyard and forcefully display the images while spreading throughout all entrances and exits of the courtyard.
