The commander of the Palestinian Joint Security Force in Ain al-Hilweh camp, Major General Mahmoud Al-Ajouri, confirmed regarding their deployment in the camp today that "all Palestinian and Islamic forces participated in this step, and everyone has welcomed it." He reassured in a statement that "if this step succeeds, it will be followed by further measures to restore security and stability in the camp and to allow residents to return to their neighborhoods," hoping for "good for the residents of the camp and its surroundings."
Al-Ajouri announced that after this move, an agreement would be reached within 48 hours to evacuate and withdraw armed individuals from UNRWA schools. The security force deployed within Ain al-Hilweh camp, specifically in the Al-Safsaf and Ras Al-Ahmar neighborhoods, without any incidents, starting from Al-Aqsa Hospital up to the Burak Central Point which separates the two neighborhoods.
This operational step aims to defuse the tension that the camp has experienced following recent clashes in areas considered contact points between the conflicting parties within the camp, namely "Fatah Movement" and "The Gathering of Muslim Youth," which witnessed intense fighting between them.
It is expected that a delegation from the Higher Relief Committee will conduct a field visit to the Reconstruction Area today to assess the damages in preparation for compensation, after MP Abdel Rahman Bizri contacted caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati, who requested prompt intervention from the committee and the establishment of a compensation mechanism for those affected to assist them in their difficult circumstances.
