"People Died from the Heat": Urgent Statement Directed to the Egyptian Government

Egyptian MP Riham Abdel Nabi submitted an urgent statement to Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly following fatalities due to unprecedented high temperatures in Aswan. In her statement today, Sunday, the MP emphasized that power outages, part of the government's load-shedding plan, are impacting the residents of Aswan and threatening lives because of the extreme heat. She noted that the rise in temperature also contributes to an increase in harmful reptiles, as the power outages lead to casualties from scorpion stings. The MP urged the government to issue an urgent decision to halt the load-shedding plan, stating, "People have died from the severe heat... The government must act quickly to save lives or bear the consequences of more casualties."
