The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces announced in a statement that on 24-09-2023, a body was found in the vicinity of the Joumhour Highway, Rmeil area. The victim, identified as (F.L., born in 1992, registered as unknown), was found with traces of blood on him. A forensic examination revealed that the death was due to multiple stab wounds inflicted with a sharp object to the abdomen, neck, and legs.
The information branch was promptly assigned to investigate the circumstances of the crime and identify the perpetrator for eventual arrest. Following a series of patrols, the branch identified the suspect as M.A. (born in 1963, Lebanese), who had a history of theft and stabbing offenses. The murder was committed in a moment of immediate conflict, after which he fled to Syria.
On 25-09-2023, the investigation revealed he had escaped to Syrian territory immediately after the murder. The relevant units of the branch skillfully lured him back into Lebanon, resulting in his arrest in the New area.
During interrogation, he confessed to killing (F.L.) inside the bus where he slept due to a sudden disagreement. He stabbed him multiple times all over his body with a knife found inside the bus, then wrapped the body in a sheet and disposed of it in a nearby location after discarding his clothes and the knife used, fleeing directly to Syrian territory through illegal crossings.
The clothes and the knife used in the killing were found, and necessary investigations were carried out by the criminal investigations department. Legal proceedings were taken against him, and he was placed in the custody of the relevant authorities. The victim's body was handed over to his family based on judicial instructions.
