Murder of a Citizen and Escape to Syria: The Intelligence Agency's Pursuit

The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division announced that "on January 2, 2024, a person named B. A. (born in 1987, Syrian) was found dead with multiple stab wounds in a car wash in the Dekwaneh area, with a knife beside him. The forensic examination confirmed that the death was due to a stabbing followed by a slashing with a knife. It was also revealed that two mobile phones were stolen from the victim."

The statement continued: "As a result, the specialized units in the Information Branch commenced their field and investigative procedures in the vicinity of the crime scene to unveil its circumstances and identify the involved parties, leading to their apprehension. Following extensive inquiries and investigations, the identities of the perpetrators were determined, including the mastermind identified as A. M. M. (born in 2002, Syrian), who was found to have left Lebanese territory illegally immediately after the crime, heading to Syria."

Furthermore, it was noted that, through meticulous follow-ups by the specialized units in the branch, it was discovered that the mentioned suspect had returned illegally to Lebanon and was present in the Zouk Mikayel area. The statement added: "On April 3, 2024, after diligent surveillance, one of the branch's patrols conducted a raid in Zouk Mikayel where he was arrested, along with his mobile phone."

During the investigation, he confessed to his involvement, along with others, in killing B. A. by stabbing him multiple times with a six-inch knife and a screwdriver, followed by striking him on the head with a fire extinguisher. They then stole his bag and two mobile phones and shared the thousand US dollars that were inside the bag. He added that the motive for the crime was the victim's refusal to pay their salaries, and that he frequently insulted and demeaned them. The necessary legal actions were taken against the suspect, and he was referred to the relevant authority based on the instructions of the competent judiciary, with efforts ongoing to apprehend the remaining involved parties.
