Did Tim Hassan Imitate Robert De Niro?

The series "Taj," starring Tim Hassan, Faya Younan, and Bassam Kousa, continues to air. It tells the story of a boxer in Syria from decades ago and also explores the era of French occupation in the Levant, reflecting on the surge of such works over the years. It is evident that director Samer Barqawi drew inspiration from the life of the famous boxer Gel LaPota, and more specifically, he incorporated elements from the film "Raging Bull," directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Robert De Niro, produced in 1980. Information has circulated on how director Samer Barqawi replicated the look and character of the film's protagonist 44 years after its release, which sparked heated discussions on social media, where many firmly argued that similarity does not equate to imitation, as often claimed.

It is well-known that Tim Hassan transitioned last year to Syrian narratives written by Omar Abu Saada, portraying a different character, in addition to "Taj," which is currently airing. Last year, he presented the character of Asem Al-Zand, a resistance fighter against occupation. Although the series experienced a decline in popularity after the midpoint of its airing, it still received a fair number of awards and showcased Tim Hassan's ability to compete both during Ramadan and outside of it.
