The Lebanese beach volleyball team (under 21 years) departed from Rafic Hariri International Airport to Doha, Qatar. The delegation consists of players Omar Abi Karam and Hadi Shbib, accompanied by their Colombian-origin Lebanese coach, Fred Moussa. They will engage in a three-day training camp that includes intensive morning training sessions and evening practice matches. This invitation came from the president of the Qatari federation and president of the West Federation, Ali Ghanem Al-Kuwari. After the training camp, they will leave Doha early Sunday morning for Thailand to participate in the World Championship finals under 21, which will take place from Monday, November 8 to Thursday, November 12, in Muang, the capital of Pathum Province, west of Bangkok.
The Lebanese team had previously secured the fourth place in the Asian Championship, which was held five months ago in Thailand, thus qualifying for the World Championship finals from Asia along with teams from Australia, China, Iran, Kazakhstan, and two teams from the host country, with a total of 32 teams participating.
Mark Abi Karam will accompany the team in an administrative role appointed by the federation, and the federation's treasurer, Assaf Mahna, will join them in Bangkok.
Additionally, the president of the Lebanese Volleyball Federation, Walid Al-Qasouf, sent a letter of thanks to his Qatari counterpart for the generous hosting of the Lebanese delegation, wishing them success. He considered that Lebanon's qualification for the World Championship finals as a Lebanese team for the first time is an achievement in itself and expressed optimism about the Cedar team's chances of securing a strong position in the tournament.
