A heated exchange occurred within the Parliament today, Wednesday, between MP Paula Yaacoubian and MP Jamil Al-Sayed during the latter's speech in the general session discussing the issue of displacement and the European grant. During his speech, Al-Sayed mentioned that before today's session, associations and embassies had contacted deputies and authorities yesterday and urged strikes to pressure this session. He said, "I know, and everyone knows the type of aid that comes to associations belonging to political forces and deputies, among others. We won't mention names."
At this point, Yaacoubian responded, saying, "I wish we could mention names. You are bold. I have an association and I don't take a dollar from anywhere. I only receive in-kind aid, and I might be wearing pants." Here, Al-Sayed replied, "But you name them in response... Mr. President silenced her." For her part, Yaacoubian said, "I fell silent on my own... Shame on you for interrupting me a hundred times."
Al-Sayed responded, "Those who have a pillar under their arm will be shaken..." Yaacoubian retorted, "There is no pillar under my arm... the pillar is under your arm, not under mine." Subsequently, Al-Sayed responded, "No one mentioned your name," to which Yaacoubian shot back, "You named the neighborhood and the area... what is this talk... no one should come near me on this topic."
