Spanish police reported a two-story restaurant building collapsed on Palma de Mallorca beach on Thursday, resulting in at least four deaths and 16 injuries in the popular tourist area of the Balearic Islands. The emergency service stated via the social media platform "X" that seven injuries were "extremely serious," while nine others sustained serious injuries and were transported to various hospitals in Palma. Firefighters and police rushed to the scene, indicating that the building's roof had collapsed.

Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez commented on the platform X, saying, "I am closely monitoring the consequences of the tragic collapse that occurred on Palma beach." He added that he spoke to local and regional authorities, and that the government is ready to assist "with all necessary means and forces." He expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.

Spanish state-owned TVE aired footage of firefighters working at the Medusa Beach Club area in Palma around 11:30 PM local time, along with ambulances at the scene.
