Arrest After Escape from Barouk Police Station

The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division issued the following statement: "On 05-08-2023, a detainee at the Barouk police station, known as W. H. (born in 1997, Syrian), broke a metal opening used for delivering food to detainees and escaped through it to an unknown location.

Immediately, the relevant units of the Internal Security Forces began field measures to determine the location to which the detainee had fled and to work on his arrest. Orders were given to intensify intelligence efforts in areas where he might be hiding.

On 10-08-2023, after careful monitoring and surveillance, one of the Information Branch patrols managed to locate the fugitive detainee hiding in the home of a relative in the Ras Dikwaneh area. The patrol executed a raid on the house and arrested W. H., along with his brother and cousin, who are both Syrians: M. H. (born in 1990) and H. H. (born in 2002).

During the investigation, W. H. confessed to fleeing from the Barouk police station and hiding with his relative in Ras Dikwaneh. His brother and cousin admitted that they were attempting to smuggle him to Syria, but their arrest prevented this. Necessary legal measures were taken against them, and they were detained by the competent authority based on the judiciary's instructions."
