Trump Responds to Biden's Speech: Suffers from a Syndrome That Can Only be Cured by His Isolation

The former U.S. President Donald Trump quickly provided a "scathing" response to current President Joe Biden following the latter's State of the Union address on Thursday night. Trump criticized Biden and his speech, stating to Fox News that it is evident that Biden "suffers from a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome." He attacked Biden on nearly every aspect of his speech, from his words to his frequent coughing fits, the time he spent discussing the southern border crisis (about 40 minutes), and his "screaming," among other things.

The former president, a potential Republican candidate for the presidential elections, remarked, "Biden was angry and mentally disturbed, and misrepresented many facts related to almost every topic he discussed." He continued, "But he got through it and is still breathing. They didn't have to carry him out wearing a restraining jacket (which is worn by individuals who may harm themselves or others). Otherwise, I think he did a terrible job."

During his address, Biden mentioned Trump nearly 12 times over the course of more than an hour, never using his name but referring to him as "my predecessor." Biden spoke about Trump in the context of issues such as abortion, immigration, and the war in Ukraine. Trump stated, "He (Biden) suffers from a chronic case of Trump Derangement Syndrome, which can only be cured through his isolation."

When asked why he felt Biden repeatedly mentioned him, Trump answered, "Because I lead him by 14 points in the polls." He added, "He was very angry, and that is also one of the symptoms of a certain type of problem: aging."

In his speech, Biden attacked Trump for what he perceived as "submission to Russia, failure to handle the COVID-19 pandemic, and covering up the Capitol attack." Biden, speaking before a joint session of Congress, opened his remarks with a direct criticism of Trump for his comments urging Russian President Vladimir Putin to invade other NATO countries if they did not spend more on defense. Biden stated, "Now my predecessor, the former Republican president, tells Putin: Do what you want. I think that is disgraceful and dangerous and unacceptable."

Biden, who is pressing Congress for additional funding for Ukraine in its war with Russia, delivered a message to Putin that the United States "will not abandon" its ally. He compared his positions with Trump’s on democracy, abortion rights, and the economy during a speech that was watched by millions of Americans and seen by Democrats as a significant opportunity for Biden to push for a second term.

Biden accused Trump and the Republicans of attempting to rewrite history regarding the Capitol riot in 2021, which was carried out by supporters of the former president who sought to overturn Biden's 2020 election victory. These developments come after Trump swept the primaries on Super Tuesday, prompting his last competitor in the Republican Party, former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, to suspend her campaign.
