A recent study conducted by American researchers at the University of Washington has shown that weekly injections of Ozempic have benefits beyond treating diabetes and weight loss. They significantly reduce the risk of kidney complications, cardiac problems, and death in patients with type 2 diabetes and chronic kidney disease. Catherine Tuttle, a professor at the university and the lead researcher of the study, said: "While there is no cure for diabetes, weekly injections of Ozempic reduce the risk of serious outcomes, all thanks to the active ingredient in Ozempic, which is semaglutide, a synthetic version of the hormone GLP-1, naturally produced in the body that helps regulate blood sugar levels."
She continued: "The results showed that 331 participants who received Ozempic injections experienced kidney dysfunction, renal failure, and death, compared to 410 who received the placebo. Dr. Catherine noted, 'We now have a very effective treatment that addresses what matters to patients, families, and communities: preserving kidney function, life, and reducing cardiovascular problems.'"
