Today, Monday, Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri received Deputy Speaker Elias Bou Saab at Ain al-Tineh. In a chat with journalists, Bou Saab emphasized the importance of the parliamentary session coming up on Wednesday to establish a unified national stance regarding the Syrian refugee issue. He reiterated his call for all political parties and parliamentary blocs to engage in dialogue and consensus in order to elect a President of the Republic. He expressed concern that continuing with stubbornness and refusal to engage in discussions would lead to no solution at all; on the contrary, it would worsen the situation. He affirmed that the rejection of dialogue and consensus principles in the presidential election process would prolong the vacancy, potentially resulting in the current council's term ending without a President. The biggest loser from this would be Lebanon and the Lebanese people. Additionally, President Berri met with the Editor-in-Chief of Al-Liwaa newspaper, Salah Salam, and also received the President of the National Anti-Corruption Authority, Judge Claude Karam, in the presence of Authority member Dr. Ali Badran.
