In an unprecedented move for the Middle East and Lebanon, the Lebanese Basketball Federation has launched a "preparatory workshop" for the U14 (both male and female) and U12 (both male and female) national teams to participate in the West Asian Championships for these categories, which will be hosted by Lebanon in December. Never before has the West Asia region hosted championships for the U14 and U12 categories; this initiative by the Lebanese Federation aims to develop the promising young talents in the age groups (2009-2010) and (2011-2012). Lebanon will host a regional championship among countries, organized by the Lebanese Federation, similar to the highly successful youth championships it has managed over several years, gaining significant audience and media attention from the Lebanese basketball community.
The selection of coaches and their assistants by the federation was based on their successful coaching careers and their excellent track records in developing young athletes.
Details of the trials include:
- **Boys (U14)** (born 2009-2010) at "Samiyeh Slim" court in Bickfaya from 3 PM to 6 PM under the supervision of coach George Sleibi.
- **Girls (U14)** (born 2009-2010) at the Central Club court in Jounieh from 11 AM to 2 PM under the supervision of coach Christina Baddou.
- **Boys (U12)** (born 2011-2012) at the Central Club court in Jounieh from 3 PM to 6 PM under the supervision of coach Ghadi Abou Joude.
- **Girls (U12)** (born 2011-2012) at "Jesus and Mary" School (Rabieh) from 10 AM to 1 PM under the supervision of coach Elias Maouad.
The coaching staff for each age group will select the players who will join the national teams to begin training in preparation for the West Asian Championship, which will be a significant milestone and a transformative opportunity for basketball in the regional age categories, positively impacting the development of basketball in the West Asia region, especially in Lebanon.
