The son of the late Iranian Shah announced that former Iranian president Ibrahim Raisi, who died in a helicopter crash, does not deserve condolences due to the human rights violations he is accused of overseeing. Reza Pahlavi, residing in the United States and whose father, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, was overthrown during the Islamic Revolution in 1979 and died in exile in 1980, warned that Raisi's death would not affect the policies of the Islamic Republic either domestically or internationally. In a post on Instagram, Pahlavi stated, "Today, Iranians are not in mourning. Ibrahim Raisi was a brutal mass killer who does not deserve condolences." He added, "Sympathizing with him is an insult to his victims and to the Iranian nation, whose only lament is that he did not live long enough to witness the downfall of the Islamic Republic and face trial for his crimes."
