Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has invited current president Joe Biden to debate "at any time and anywhere," and under the administration of what he described as a corrupt debate commission. Trump wrote on social media on Wednesday: "It is important, for the good of our country, that Joe Biden and I discuss the very vital issues for America and the American people. Therefore, I call for debates at any time and any location!" He explained that "the debates can be managed by the corrupt Democratic National Committee or its affiliate, the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD). I look forward to receiving a response. Thank you for your attention to this matter!"
Trump has become the sole potential candidate for the Republican party after his competitor Nikki Haley withdrew from the race. He won 14 states during the Republican primary's Super Tuesday elections, including Texas and California, but lost in one state, where Haley surprisingly won in Vermont. The former president, who is seeking a notable return to the White House after being ousted by Democrat Joe Biden in 2020, hoped to secure the most delegates in the 15 states involved in Tuesday's elections on his way to securing the Republican party's nomination.
Trump expressed his gratitude on his "Truth Social" platform and described the results announcement night as "fantastic" as he nears the Republican nomination for the presidential elections. On the Democratic side, Biden secured victories in 14 states, according to U.S. television networks, but there are expectations that he may lose to a relatively unknown competitor, Jason Palmer, in American Samoa in the South Pacific.
Biden warned in a statement distributed by his campaign that Trump "is determined to destroy our democracy, strip away fundamental freedoms, such as women's ability to make their own healthcare decisions, and enact another package of tax cuts for the wealthy worth billions of dollars... and he will do or say anything to gain power." Polls from the media organization "Real Clear Politics" show that 77-year-old Trump holds a two-point lead over President Joe Biden in the upcoming November presidential election.
