The Arab Tourism Organization announced today that the city of Kfardebian is the "Capital of Arab Winter Tourism for 2024," highlighting the many tourism assets to attract visitors. On this occasion, the Kfardebian Municipality held a celebration this afternoon, attended by Minister of Tourism Walid Nassar and Saudi Ambassador Walid Bukhari. During the event, the municipality received the award for "Kfardebian as the Capital of Arab Winter Resorts for 2024" from the Minister of Tourism and the Secretary-General of the Arab Tourism Organization, Sherif Attia, in the presence of ambassadors and a large number of stakeholders in the tourism and sports sectors, along with MPs from the region.
A special celebratory program was organized for the day, starting from the Kfardebian Municipality, passing through various tourist stations, and concluding at the Roman ruins of Fakra. The Mayor of Kfardebian, Bassam Salama, emphasized during the launch ceremony for Kfardebian as an Arab and global tourist destination that it is essential to acknowledge and express gratitude to our Arab brothers who have always supported Lebanon in all circumstances. He noted, "Your presence today is a testament of belief and love for a better Lebanon and its pioneering role in the Arab world. Welcome to Kfardebian, the Capital of Arab Winter Tourism for 2024," adding that "Kfardebian will remain the capital of Arab winter resorts, with its pristine snow enduring through the ages, and when Kfardebian is elevated, all of Lebanon is elevated."
For his part, the President of the Union of Tourism Syndicates and the National Tourism Council, Pierre Ashkar, stated that the selection of Kfardebian as the capital of Arab winter tourism for 2024 "highlights Lebanon's distinctive advantages in tourism in general, and winter tourism in particular." He confirmed that "this will positively impact Lebanon's tourism and attract visitors when the war ends and stability returns." Ashkar stressed that "with the return of stability, the importance of this announcement will significantly manifest, given Lebanon's diverse tourism offerings. Winter tourism is a unique feature exclusive to Lebanon, with no other Arab country having the skiing advantage present in Lebanon." He pointed out that "Kfardebian is the only area in the Middle East with skiing features, alongside other regions in Lebanon. However, Kfardebian is considered the best among them."
