Parliamentary Delegation Visits Frontiska: Call for International Fact-Finding Committee on Port Blast

A parliamentary delegation visited the United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Joanna Frontiska, today, Tuesday, at the office of the UN coordination in Al-Yarzeh. The delegation included MPs Ghassan Hasbani representing the "Strong Republic," Salim Al-Sayegh representing the "Kataeb," and Major General Ashraf Rifi representing "Renewal," accompanied by former Minister Richard Karamjian, head of the Lebanese Forces' Foreign Relations Department, and Mark Saad from the department.

The delegation handed Frontiska a petition addressed to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, affirming and praising the position of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights on the need to establish an international fact-finding committee for the crime of the Beirut port explosion on August 4, 2020, and urging him "to expedite the formation of this committee." The petition carries 291 signatures from MPs, humanitarian and rights organizations, and families of the victims and the affected.

The delegation called on Frontiska to convey this urgent demand from the Lebanese people to the Secretary-General and to support Lebanon and its people in achieving this goal, revealing the truth in this case, and releasing the obstructed justice in Lebanon.
