The Secretary-General of the National Belonging Party, Hikmat al-Dulaimi, revealed today, Friday, the reasons behind the resignations of several leaders of the Progress Party, including the head of the parliamentary bloc, Shalaan al-Kareem. Al-Dulaimi stated that "Progress and its members did not join based on interest or ideology but rather due to the power of authority and the element of money in the hands of specific leadership. After this power waned, the party began to collapse."
He added, "The issue is not limited to divisions alone; there are also hostilities. Whenever any leader submits their resignation, they are met with accusations, and Shalaan al-Kareem is not just an ordinary member but the head of the bloc and the party's candidate for the presidency of the parliament." He continued, "Once he resigned, they began to label him with a series of inappropriate titles."
He pointed out that "after losing the presidency of the parliament, the Progress Party is on its way to greater splits that will weaken it and diminish its influence." Just the day before yesterday, Wednesday, the head of the Progress bloc in the House of Representatives and its candidate for the presidency, Shalaan al-Kareem, announced his withdrawal from the Progress Party and his candidacy for the parliament presidency.
