FIFA: Hosting the Club World Cup in Mid-2025 and New Continental Club Tournament in 2024

FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced on Sunday that the newly formatted Club World Cup, set to include 32 teams, will take place from June 15 to July 13, 2025. Additionally, a new annual continental club tournament will commence next year. FIFA had previously announced the expansion of the Club World Cup earlier this year and unanimously voted to select the United States as the host for the tournament's inaugural edition.

The FIFA Council met in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to confirm the schedules for the Club World Cup and reiterated that the new club tournament, called the Continental Cup, will bring together the UEFA Champions League winner and a team selected through a playoff among clubs from various continents. Infantino stated, "The tournament will include all current champions from the continental club associations. It will conclude with a final at a neutral venue between the UEFA Champions League winner and the victor of the continental playoff among clubs from other continental associations."

The council also decided that Chile will host the Under-20 World Cup in 2025, while Poland will host the Under-20 Women's World Cup in 2026.
