The number of individuals evacuated from the Gaza Strip to Egypt increased on Tuesday following the reopening of the Rafah border crossing yesterday. An Egyptian security source reported that "no less than 320 foreign nationals and their families, in addition to 100 Egyptians, entered Egypt today through the Rafah crossing, which is the only border crossing not controlled by Israel." Egyptian security sources stated that "Egypt continues to push for the entry of more aid and fuel into the Gaza Strip and to provide security for ambulances." The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that "262 Jordanians were evacuated today from a total of 569 stranded in Gaza since the outbreak of conflict there." However, a medical source noted that "only four injured individuals from Gaza were allowed to pass to join others receiving treatment in Egyptian hospitals." The crossing had been closed on Saturday and Sunday after Israel struck an ambulance heading to Rafah.
