The Minister of State for Economic Development, Housing and Communities in Britain, Michael Gove, described a video showing a party at the headquarters of the ruling Conservative Party during the lockdown imposed to combat Covid-19 in 2020 as "terrible," and he offered his apologies to the citizens. Gove told Sky News, "It's terrible; I believe it completely violated the rules. I just want to sincerely apologize to everyone."
The video, which was published by the Mirror, emerged just days after a parliamentary committee's conclusion that former Prime Minister Boris Johnson intentionally misled MPs about the parties held in his office in violation of lockdown rules. The 45-second clip dates back to December 2020 and shows attendees celebrating at a time when gatherings indoors were prohibited for the public in Britain. The police had launched an investigation into the gathering once a photo of it circulated.
