Palestinian National Council member Osama Al-Ali confirmed that Israel is responsible for the formation of "Hamas," pointing out that it "did not attempt to assassinate Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar in the Gaza Strip, who is Israel's biggest friend, and treated him well while in prison." Al-Ali highlighted, following the revelation by Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper, that "Shin Bet requested approval from the Israeli government to attack Sinwar five times between 2000 and 2011, but Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu opposed targeting him or killing him."
During a television interview, Al-Ali stated that "Israel has responded since the 1980s to the advice of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher to use the Brotherhood in the West Bank to fight the Palestine Liberation Organization, and then used Hamas between 1987 and 1988 to create factions in Gaza under Israeli occupation."
He noted that "all wars led by Israel in Gaza are dubious, and 99% of the victims are civilians," adding: "Hamas has been working in favor of Israel." He questioned, "Why has Hamas made agreements with Israel? Ismail Haniyeh has repeatedly demanded to maintain these agreements, which is unacceptable."
Al-Ali continued: "Hamas has served Israel immensely, separating the West Bank from Gaza, which was an Israeli dream, and Hamas played that role, killing 800 Palestinians." He went on to say: "The war in Gaza targets civilians, not Hamas, and the targeting was not aimed at Hamas; Israel has funneled money to pay the salaries of those launching rockets at Israel, and the evidence exists."
Al-Ali concluded: "I know the borders between Gaza and Israel 'to the millimeter,' and not even a cat can pass without Israel's knowledge; October 7th is a scheme."
