Title: Security Forces Deny Suspension of Security Campaign in the Southern Suburb

The Directorate General of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division announced the following in a statement: "Some media outlets and social media sites have circulated news regarding the end of the security campaign in the Southern suburb, particularly the cessation of the confiscation of violating vehicles and motorcycles, accompanied by a photo of a political figure with officers from the Southern Suburb Detachment. The Directorate General of Internal Security Forces completely denies the news of the suspension of the campaign in the Southern suburb and affirms that its units welcome all citizens. It is important to clarify the following: the security campaign that the Internal Security Forces initiated in its current form was scheduled to end on May 23, 2024. However, due to its proven effectiveness, particularly the decrease in crime rates, it will be extended for several more days in the Greater Beirut area, including the Southern suburb. The security forces will subsequently conduct various intermittent and sudden campaigns – differing from this previously announced plan – in order to pursue offenders and those wanted by justice and to control common violations."
