The Secret Behind the Close Relations Between the Kurdistan Region and Gulf Countries

A member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Dilshad Shaban, revealed today, Monday, the secret behind the close relations between the Kurdistan Region and Gulf countries. Shaban stated in an interview with "Baghdad Today" that "the Kurdistan Region has a perspective regarding regional and international relations and does not want to be on one side against another." He added that "in its relations with the UAE, Qatar, and other Gulf countries, the Kurdistan Region seeks to open up to the economic and investment side and to utilize the fertile environment of the region in this area." He pointed out that "the Gulf investment file is always a topic of discussion between the Kurdistan Region and the Gulf countries," indicating that "there is a great potential for significant Gulf investment, given the facilities provided by the region from legal and administrative aspects." Last Friday, the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, arrived in the UAE on an official visit where he met with its ruler, Mohammed bin Zayed.
