Trump Discusses Relationship with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu

U.S. President Donald Trump revealed that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has requested a meeting at the White House, noting that the meeting might take place as early as next week after his return from the NATO summit.

In statements to Axios, Trump described his relationship with Netanyahu as 'very good,' adding, 'He knows who the leader is.' Conversely, an Israeli official suggested postponing the meeting to the following week, explaining that Trump's schedule, including the NATO summit and his visit to Turkey, might make a meeting next week unlikely.

These developments come as media reports have suggested growing reservations among some of Trump's aides about Netanyahu's performance in recent months. Axios reported an American official stating that several senior advisers to the president believe the Israeli Prime Minister 'was wrong on most issues.'

In another context, Trump announced that the U.S. and Iran have agreed to pause talks for a week during the funeral ceremonies for Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, affirming the continuation of the ceasefire during this period.

The U.S. president added that Iranian officials 'are very eager to reach an agreement,' indicating Washington's preference to maintain negotiation avenues without taking steps that could derail them.
