The distinguished Jaafari Mufti Sheikh Ahmad Qabalan emphasized in a statement that "the presidential entitlement cannot be handed over to any foreign entity at all, as this would amount to a disregard for national sovereignty. It is clear that genuine solutions for the country must pass through a presidential settlement that revives national work to lift the country anew amid disasters, electronic crimes, moral decay, financial and economic chaos, and unprecedented existential threats." He stated, "The presidential solution is here, not abroad, much like the issue of displacement that is nearly overwhelming the country. The natural venue for the presidential settlement is the Parliament, as it serves as the representative and consensual reference for the Lebanese family. Those who boycott the national settlement hinder the presidential entitlement and commit the gravest national error. Given that the issues threatening Lebanon's supreme interests are serious, it is essential to remove political bargaining from the presidential entitlement in favor of a consensus that befits the national partnership of the Lebanese family. Role-swapping is a flaw, and the game of hardball is a betrayal of the country and its people, especially as a portion of the Lebanese youth are engulfed in gambling, despair, crime, drugs, and unemployment amid a deadly political paralysis." He concluded: "Just as Lebanon's sovereignty guarantee requires sacrifices and sovereign efforts suitable for protecting Lebanon and its borders, the presidential rescue hinges on national efforts and sacrifices to safeguard national decision-making and revitalize political work that secures the Islamic-Christian partnership."
