After Asma Muhammad, the wife of former ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, confirmed that he took more than 10 Yazidi captives, asserting that she had seen Yazidi Siban Khalil only for a few days, the latter responded to clarify the situation. Khalil, who preferred not to appear on "Al Arabiya" TV, speaking only to the "Al Arabiya.net" website due to strict security warnings she received immediately after the interview regarding her safety, stated that what Asma mentioned is not true. She explained that she lived with her for six months after the death of Abu Muhammad al-Adnani, who referred to her as Umm Khalid. She added, "Al-Adnani's will to her was to be treated well and never to be returned to my family."
Regarding Asma's personal treatment towards her, she pointed out that the initial treatment was good, although she would order her to do household chores and take care of her young children. However, the situation changed later when Asma found a small notebook in Siban's possession, which contained various information about the organization and its leaders. According to Siban, she revealed that she was beaten because of the information she had written down, confirming that her treatment became very bad, as Asma would ask her husband to assault her. She stated, "He beat me several times, and sometimes I was beaten by both her and her husband at the same time."
On the claim made by al-Baghdadi's wife during her interview with Al Arabiya that she was not satisfied with the issue of captives and ISIS's actions, Siban expressed her astonishment, saying, "The way she spoke as if she were innocent in that matter is not true at all; she was unjust." She added, "She was not forced to do this but was satisfied with everything she did; she fully cooperated with her husband in the organization's activities."
