The Disciplinary and Ethics Committee of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation has decided to punish the captain of Al-Nassr, Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo. Ronaldo engaged in an unethical act directed at the supporters of Al-Shabab during Al-Nassr's 3-2 victory in round 21 last Sunday. The management of Al-Shabab filed a complaint with the Disciplinary and Ethics Committee against Ronaldo.
In an official statement released on Wednesday, the committee announced a one-match ban for Ronaldo in all official matches in which he is eligible to participate. The committee also confirmed a fine of 10,000 riyals for the Portuguese star and mandated his team, alongside the player, to pay 20,000 riyals to Al-Shabab to cover the costs of filing the complaint.
The committee stated that "after completing the formal procedures, Al-Shabab Club communicated with the committee, prompting them to ask Al-Nassr player Cristiano Ronaldo to respond to the points raised in the complaint from Al-Shabab, and to ask the official broadcaster to provide the committee with the official footage of the incident in question."
