Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan confirmed that the transfer of Hamas leaders to Turkey is not currently on the agenda, urging the Palestinian movement to take a decisive stance on the two-state solution.
"Transforming into a Political Movement"
In a television interview, the Turkish Foreign Minister stated that "Hamas will transform into a political movement after the establishment of the Palestinian state," emphasizing that Turkey "does not want the war to escalate until we reach peace." He noted that Ankara has played a role in calming tensions between Iran and Israel.
"Significant Accord Between the Two Countries"
On another note, Fidan confirmed that "Saudi-Turkish relations are progressing very well," highlighting a significant accord between the two countries.
According to the Wall Street Journal, last Saturday, the political leadership of Hamas is considering moving its headquarters out of Qatar. The newspaper cited Arab officials indicating that the movement has reached out in recent days to at least two countries in the region regarding their openness to the idea of relocating their political leaders to their capitals.
Hamas has denied these reports, with several of its leaders asserting that the news lacks accuracy. Sources within the movement mentioned that Hamas has not left Qatar, but believes that Doha is playing a positive role in the ongoing mediation for a prisoner exchange deal between Hamas and Israel.
