Parts of Mexico are currently facing a heat wave that has claimed dozens of lives, according to reports. The National Meteorological Service of Mexico indicated that temperatures in the state of Yucatan, known for its tourism, were expected to reach 45 degrees Celsius this past Sunday. It added that the highest temperature recorded in Mexico City, which usually has a mild climate, reached 34.3 degrees Celsius on Thursday. It is believed that 24 people lost their lives in the state of San Luis Potosi in northeastern Mexico due to the heat wave, which lasted from Thursday to Saturday, according to media reports. In the region of Huasteca, temperatures exceeded 50 degrees Celsius in recent days, according to the state’s Director General of Health Services, Yamuri Vaca Avila. Notably, 104 people died in Mexico last year due to a heat wave.
