Unai Emery has signed a new contract with Aston Villa, of which 55 percent is owned by Egyptian billionaire Nasif Sawiris, keeping him as the head coach of the English club until 2029. Sawiris, the chairman of Aston Villa, stated: "We are building something special here at Aston Villa with Unai, and we are pleased he has signed a new contract with the club until 2029." He emphasized, "As we approach our historic year, the 150th anniversary of our founding, there is much to look forward to with Unai at the helm of the team."
For his part, Emery said, "I am very happy to take this step and the responsibility of leading this club. There is wonderful harmony at Aston Villa. The support from the fans makes a difference; it feels like home. We are truly excited to continue this journey towards our limitless dreams."
Emery took over as head coach of Aston Villa in October 2022, when the team was just three points clear of the relegation zone. He has led the team to secure fourth place in the Premier League this season and qualify for the Champions League in a historic achievement.
