The Chinese news agency "Xinhua" announced that Chinese experts have completed the construction of a giant wireless telescope for monitoring the flow of charged particles coming from the sun, successfully passing all tests. This project was overseen by the National Space Research Center under the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The telescope has been installed in the autonomous region of Inner Mongolia in northern China.
According to the agency, experts will be able to monitor fluctuations in radio signals received from distant sources affected by solar winds daily thanks to the DSRT telescope. This monitoring is expected to allow for timely responses to changes occurring in Earth's magnetic and ionospheres, which adversely affect aviation, space projects, communications, navigation devices, and energy system operations.
It is noteworthy that work on constructing this telescope began in early 2021, and the antenna installation was completed in the summer of 2023. The National Space Research Center plans to use this telescope at night to observe various celestial bodies, such as pulsars.
