Cairo airport authorities prevented artist Nesreen Tafesh from traveling to Dubai yesterday, Monday, based on a decision issued by the Public Prosecutor banning her from traveling due to accusations related to an ongoing case. After being informed of the Public Prosecutor's decision by Cairo airport authorities, Nesreen Tafesh had to cancel her trip, as she was headed to the Emirate of Dubai on an Emirates flight, according to local media.
The artist had previously received a certificate from the South Giza Court confirming the conclusion of a case that sentenced her to three years in prison due to a bounced check, after settling the matter. This certificate was to be submitted to the Public Prosecutor's office to lift the travel ban.
The October Appeals Court had ruled last week to dismiss the criminal case in the appeal filed by the artist against her imprisonment sentence after reaching a settlement with the opposing party and paying a significant amount. The artist went to the October Appeals Court carrying a bag containing 4 million Egyptian pounds to pay the amount in court and cancel the prison sentence.
