Retired Military Personnel: Solidarity for the Approval of a

The "Gathering of Retired Military Personnel" appealed in a statement today, following a meeting focused on pursuing the rights of retired military personnel, for "all public sector employees and retirees to unite and support the approval of a salary scale that ensures justice, equality, and a minimum humane standard for a decent living."

It stated: "As the three-month period requested by the government to rectify salaries is approaching its end, according to a proposal to be put forth by the Civil Service Council, we declare that any proposal to rectify salaries and wages must be based on the following fair approach: granting all public sector employees in all departments and sectors, both civilian and military retirees, a uniform percentage increase from the value of pensions in US dollars that the employee or retiree received according to the 2017 scale. This percentage increase should be according to what the treasury allows and ensure the stability of the exchange rate, and the value of pensions and salaries should not be less than the minimum required to ensure a decent living. Compensation for those who retired after October 17, 2019 should be recalculated fairly to ensure equality with their peers who retired before this date until a just salary scale is approved that ensures justice, equality, and a minimum standard for a decent living."

Moreover, the gathering called on "retired military personnel and the families of martyrs and the disabled to prepare to support the demands movement to defend the rights of all retired military personnel."
