The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division issued the following statement today, Saturday: "On October 13, 2023, an altercation occurred between individuals in the town of Arsal, which escalated into a brawl and gunfire, resulting in the injury of citizen: - A. K. Z. (born in 1989), who was shot in the chest. He was taken to the hospital for treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries. The shooter fled the scene and disappeared.
The specialized units of the Internal Security Forces began their field and investigative procedures to identify those involved in the incident. As a result of investigations and inquiries, the Information Branch was able to identify the individuals involved, including the shooter, who is named: M. F. (born in 1993, Lebanese). On December 29, 2023, after careful monitoring and observation, one of the branch's patrols managed to arrest him in the city of Baalbek.
During the interrogation, he confessed to shooting (A. K. Z.) due to a longstanding dispute between the two families over a property in the outskirts of the aforementioned town. The legal measures were taken against the detained suspect, and he was handed over to the competent judiciary, as per regulations."
