The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division announced today, Friday, that "as part of the daily monitoring carried out by the Internal Security Forces to curb car and motorcycle thefts within the city of Beirut, the Beirut Investigative Brigade intensified its intelligence and field efforts in areas where these operations are prevalent. A new gang engaged in motorcycle thefts was identified.
As a result of investigations and inquiries, the identities of the gang members were determined to be:
- A. M. (born in 1992, Lebanese), who is wanted by the judiciary under arrest warrants for facilitating the escape of a prisoner and attempted murder. It was revealed that he has previous convictions for theft, robbery, drugs, trafficking, and drug use.
- M. A. (born in 1993, Palestinian), who has previous convictions for theft and drugs.
On March 3, 2024, after careful surveillance and monitoring, one of the brigade's patrols arrested them in the act while they were attempting to steal a "Sewet" motorcycle from the Rawche area, where they were dragging it using another "Chinese V150" motorcycle, which was also found to be stolen.
Upon searching them, the following items were seized:
- A firearm.
- 11 pieces of hashish.
- Tools used for theft.
- Face masks.
During the investigation, they confessed to the charges of stealing motorcycles. Legal action was taken against them, and they were referred along with the seized items to the relevant authority based on the competent judicial authority's instructions. The "Sewet" motorcycle was returned to its owner after confirming ownership."
A new gang engaged in motorcycle thefts has fallen into the hands of the Beirut Investigative Brigade.
