Hamada: The Slippery Slope to War is More Dangerous than the Decision to Go to War in Lebanon

Member of the "Democratic Gathering," MP Marwan Hamada, placed the Israeli massacre that claimed the lives of three girls within one of two possibilities: either the enemy wants further displacement from the south, or the Israeli military machine has aged, leading to the loss of innocent lives. In a talk with "Voice of Lebanon," he stated that "the slippery slope towards war is more dangerous than the decision to go to war in Lebanon," describing the response by the resistance yesterday in Kiryat Shmona as measured and painful. He added that "the danger of Lebanon slipping into war was highlighted by attempts from some in Israel to drag Lebanon into what they called a preemptive war." He noted that "the speech of Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah was measured because he understands there are madmen in Israel, such as the minister who called for dropping a nuclear bomb." He pointed out that "the decision for war today is not in the hands of the state but rather in the hands of the forces that dominate the region, and it is essential that we do not allow the enemy to draw us into a major operation to avoid the war that Lebanon cannot bear." He praised the performance of "Prime Minister Najib Mikati, who is doing everything possible to keep the danger of war at bay," warning of the "danger of internal explosion," while ruling out the election of a president in the near future, highlighting the "seriousness of the vacancy in the leadership of the army." Hamada indicated that "the solution lies in extending the term of Major General Joseph Aoun, either through the government, provided that the Minister of Defense cooperates, or through an expedited law from the Parliament."
