It was striking that no members of the royal family attended the thanksgiving service at St. Paul's Cathedral celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games, founded by Prince Harry. Reports state that the reason for their absence was not a lack of invitation, but rather King Charles instructed all working members of the royal family, including Princess Anne and Prince Edward, with the exception of Prince William and Kate Middleton, to attend a first event in the gardens of Buckingham Palace. According to the "Daily Beast," royal correspondent Tom Sykes said, "King Charles ordered all working members of the royal family, including Princess Anne and Prince Edward, with the exception of Prince William and Kate Middleton, to attend a celebration held in the gardens of Buckingham Palace for 5,000 attendees happening at the same time." The event took place just miles away from the cathedral where the ceremony was held in the presence of Prince Harry, celebrating the tenth anniversary of the Invictus Games for former and current armed forces members. The inaugural Invictus Games for service members and wounded, injured, and sick veterans was held ten years ago in London. This incident comes shortly after reports emerged that the king often cannot meet his son during his visits to the UK due to his busy schedule and prior commitments.
