The competitions of the Middle East "Dragon Boats" Championship concluded in its second edition, organized by the Sharjah International Marine Club, over three days at the Al Khan Corniche in Sharjah, with the participation of 2,000 athletes representing seven countries. Claudio Schermy, President of the International Dragon Boat Federation, and Ahmed Al Hosani, General Manager of the Sharjah International Marine Club, awarded the winners in the Dragon Boat championship and the Sharjah Canoe Kayak Championship, which included the first round of the sprint kayak and marathon kayak categories.
The President of the International Dragon Boat Federation expressed his happiness to be present at the second edition of the championship, praising the exceptional organization of the competitions and the impressive presence of competitors from various countries around the world. He noted the qualitative leap that the Sharjah International Marine Club is witnessing in organizing international championships and global competitions, appreciating the significant efforts made by the club’s management in promoting the sport of dragon boating and expanding its base of practitioners across most cities in the Emirate of Sharjah.
For his part, Ahmed Al Hosani praised the technical levels displayed by the participants, congratulating the top winners who were crowned in the second edition, and extending thanks to all the club staff for their organizational efforts, which contributed to the successful execution of the event that befits the name of the Emirate of Sharjah.
