The representative of actor Andre Braugher, a two-time Emmy winner and star of the comedy television series Brooklyn Nine-Nine, announced his death at the age of 61 on Monday after a brief battle with illness. Braugher starred alongside Andy Samberg in the satirical police series Brooklyn Nine-Nine for eight seasons from 2013 to 2021, playing the role of Captain Ray Holt, a role that earned him four Emmy nominations and two Critics' Choice Awards for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. He also emerged as a dramatic actor when he portrayed Detective Frank Pembleton on the series Homicide: Life on the Street from 1992 to 1998, a standout role for which he won his first Emmy in 1998. Braugher also won an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries in 2006 for his role as Nick Atwater in the film Thief. Braugher is survived by his wife, actress Ami Brabson, and his children Michael, Isaiah, John Wesley, his brother Charles Jennings, and his mother Sally Braugher.
