The Israeli army has officially announced the death of 3 soldiers, including a reserve officer and two officers from the "Kfir Brigade" (the religious "Nitzach Yehuda" unit), along with another soldier in battles in northern Gaza Strip. The army stated in a communiqué that the fallen soldiers are Major (Reserve) Gidon Shay Deruy, 33 years old from Tel Aviv, a fighter in the "Yalam" unit of the combat engineering corps; Captain Yisrael Yudkin, 22 years old from Kfar Chabad, an officer in "Battalion 97" (Kfir Brigade); and Sergeant Eliyahu (Eli) Chaim Amsalem, 21 years old from Ra'anana, a fighter in "Battalion 97" (Kfir Brigade). The army also announced that 4 soldiers were severely injured, including an officer from "Battalion 97". Additionally, a reserve soldier in "Battalion 9263" of "Brigade 226" was seriously injured earlier today on the northern border.
