Iraqi President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid met with his National Security Advisor Qassim al-Araji and several security officials today, Sunday, to discuss the situation in the region. The meeting addressed the security conditions in the country, the importance of protecting stability, ensuring citizens' safety, and preserving achievements made in combating terrorism and pursuing its remnants and funding sources.
The meeting also touched on the conditions of detainees and prisoners, emphasizing the need to continue releasing those whose sentences have concluded. Additionally, the discussions included the situation of displaced persons and the plans in place for their return to their original areas and the closure of all camps.
The attendees discussed border security and the necessity of constructive coordination and cooperation in reinforcing security and stability with neighboring countries for the benefit of all and to achieve the interests of the peoples involved.
Recent developments in the region and their repercussions were also addressed, with the President emphasizing the need to reduce tensions and avoid falling into the cycle of conflict, stressing that wars will not bring solutions and will deepen problems between countries. He pointed out the "necessity of stopping the aggression on the Gaza Strip and finding a comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue, as it is a fundamental element for the region's stability, by granting the Palestinian people all their legitimate rights."
For his part, the National Security Advisor provided an overview of the security situation and the plans in place to maintain stability in the country, praising the President's proposals to safeguard the achievements and unify efforts to reinforce security and stability.
