The Qatari Ministry of Culture announced that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will participate as the "Guest of Honor" in the 32nd edition of the Doha International Book Fair, which will take place next month. The ministry noted that Saudi Arabia will have several contributions during the events of the fair, which will kick off on June 12 and run until June 21.
Ghanem bin Mubarak Al-Ali, Assistant Undersecretary for Cultural Affairs at the Ministry of Culture, stated that the fair will be held at the Doha Exhibition Center under the slogan "We Rise with Reading," with participation from numerous local, Arab, and international publishing houses. He added, "In this edition, we continue our ambition to achieve more creativity that enhances Doha's cultural presence both Arabically and internationally," pointing out that the cultural program of the fair includes various seminars, cultural and literary evenings, and musical performances featuring a group of writers, thinkers, and creators from Qatar and abroad.
The Doha Book Fair was first launched in 1972 under the supervision of the Qatari National Library, and it was held every two years until it became an annual event starting in 2002, and since 2010, it has made it a tradition to choose one country as the guest of honor for each edition.
