Croatian Luka Modric, the second captain of Real Madrid, is seeking to win his sixth UEFA Champions League title to match the record set by the club's legend Paco Gento. Real Madrid will face Dortmund on the first of next month in the final of the prestigious tournament at Wembley Stadium.
Modric stated in an interview with Real Madrid TV: "It's very difficult to reach the final, which is why what we are doing is more beautiful and unique." He explained, "We often face challenges that need to be overcome, and we always believe until the end; we are doing something historic."
He added, "The way we qualified for the final was never easy, because the fans suffer from tension, but it tastes better in the end." Modric noted, "Regardless of all the titles and victories, the love that people show me every day is the best thing that can happen to a player, not just the Real Madrid fans, but fans in other stadiums as well."
He confirmed that his team reaches the Wembley final with a lot of "confidence," following the two titles they have already won this season. He continued, "Now we think about training well, and when the match approaches, when we are already in London, we need to focus on the match."
He concluded, "Now you shouldn't think too much because that will drive you crazy; we are very calm.. We have a lot of confidence because we have had a great season in La Liga and won the Super Cup, I hope we will be at our best and bring the 15th title to Madrid."
